Franklin star Shoni Schimmel driven to inspire other Natives.
Shortly after dropping 25 points against Lincoln High School in early February, Franklin High School point guard Shoni Schimmel stood on the sideline, signing autographs for dozens of young girls crowding around her.
Her game had been a dizzying array of ankle-breaking crossovers and deep threes; a behind-the-back pass here, a deadly step-back jumper there. She finished with 25 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and one steal — all in less than 32 minutes. And, though no one kept track, she easily led all players in “oohs” and “aahs.”
