JUST THE FACTS

After a four-year enlistment in the Marine Corps, I earned a B.S. at Portland State University.

In 1993, I was hired full-time as a staff photographer at The Columbian newspaper in Vancouver, Washington, where I worked for five years.

In 1997, I was hired as a staff photographer at The Register-Guard where we were recognized as a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for our coverage of the Thurston High School shooting.

In December, 2007, I accepted a position as a staff photographer at The Oregonian in Portland, Ore.

My work has been published in a broad range of publications such as National Geographic Traveler, Sports Illustrated, Washington Post, ESPN The Magazine, The Sporting News, and U.S. News and World Report.
In 2006, I was a featured speaker and team leader at the Eddie Adams Workshop. I’m now on Apple’s Aperture Advisory board where I lecture and submit feedback.

I’ve been very fortunate to have had some great assignments over the years. I’ve photographed every President since Ronald Reagan, covered the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials, several NCAA Basketball Tournaments, had assignments in Belize and Guatemala, and spent months at a time covering stories on childhood obesity, the Columbia Gorge, Hunger, and the Willamette River.

My wife Carrie and I have twins named Cole and Greta. They were born in August 1998. They are ridiculously cute, smart and talented.

I also accept Commercial, Advertising, Portraiture and Wedding commissions.
