>The Gorge

>

I was on my way back from Hood River and decided to take the scenic route. I thought I’d just explore and scout locations for the future. The wind was strong and cold and the light didn’t seem particularly interesting so I really had no intention of shooting. But when I got to Crown Point the sun was dropping below the clouds and things were starting to happen with the light. I couldn’t resist…I unloaded the tripod and cameras and went to work! I wasn’t the only one. Photographer Kevin Merchant of Newcastle, Washington (http://kevinmerchant.com/) was there shooting as well. As the sun dropped below the horizon the clouds parted and revealed the moon. Neither of us expected that.

    >Amazing shots! You really captured the essence of the moment. Here is what may be a naive question from an aspiring amateur. How did you approach the couple there to take their picture. Often when I am out shooting people would greatly enhance the image but I am never sure how to approach them.
